Timesheet closing times and prizes

The Timesheet for the Sunday Competitions will be closed for cancellations and bookings at 8pm on the evening prior to the competition. It is hoped that this will provide members on the waiting list adequate time to take advantage of cancellations and eliminate gaps in the timesheet caused by late withdrawals.

The Tournament Committee have decided to standardise the prizes being awarded for weekly competitions. In general there will be a 1st and 2nd prize overall plus 1st and 2nd prizes in 3 categories. The Categories will be set weekly based on the handicaps of the players in the event, the target is to have equal numbers of players in each category. Gross prizes will be awarded for major events and Cups as in previous years.

Update on Course

This is an update to the previous correspondence you would have received yesterday concerning temporary greens during the final phase of our Bunker reconstuction program.

It was communicated that there would be temporary greens in play for Thursday 9th Friday 10th  and Saturday 11th.  Having had further consultation with the Contractor it was agreed that there would be full greens in play for saturday 11th .

For clarification there will be temporary greens in place today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) however we will be playing full greens on Saturday and Sunday.

We would like to thank you again for your patience while these works are progressing.

Pace of Play

This is a general communication to all members from the Tournament Committee.

We are experiencing a worrying trend of slow play associated with our Sunday competitions.

Last Sunday the first four person group completed their fourteen holes in two and a half hours. Because of slow play cascading through the field it took four hours for the last group to complete their round.

We do appreciate that the current works on the course are a contributing factor however it does not excuse the level of slow play experienced.

We have had a number of formal complaints from members about the pace of play and it is our responsibility on tournament to put in place a number of initiatives to address this problem.

As a first step can we ask you to be conscious of your pace of play while playing your round of golf.

Postponed drive-in

Sunday’s Captain’s Drive-In along with the Four Person Team Scramble and Nine-Hole Mixed Foursomes competitions was postponed due to the inclement weather conditions. The three events have now been rescheduled for Sunday next, March 1, with our new captains, Brendan and Mary Lou, due to tee off at 1.15pm.

The mens Arkew Cup which was to take place on Sunday next, March 1, has been postponed as a result and will be rescheduled later in the season. All BRS bookings for this competition have been cancelled.
