Senior Mixed Team advance

The Senior Mixed Team are through to the next round of the All-Ireland Senior Mixed Foursomes competition after a 3-2 win over Greenore.

With three of the matches away it was imperative that Dundalk won the two ties at home and Clem Walsh and Olive Jones certainly did that with an impressive 5&4 win while Neal MacKell and Mary Hession made it a clean sweep with a 3&2 victory.

Out on the Cooley peninsula, Mickey Coburn and Anne McArdle were unlucky to lose on the 17th for a 2&1 defeat while Billy Cairns and Brid Rocks came up against stiff opposition in a match that finished on the 13th.

However, Ricky Newell and Anne Murray ensured Dundalk’s place in the third round with an fine 2&1 victory and the team now await the winners of the tie between Ashbourne and Killeen Castle.

The Senior Mixed Team’s victory was the bright spot on an otherwise disappointing weekend as the North Leinster Mixed Foursomes Team was beaten 4-1 by Co Meath with Tommy and Briege Renaghan up in the final match when it was called in while the Provincial Towns Cup team lost to Ardee in their First Round tie.
