Sheridan wins Cochrane Cup

Eddie Sheridan (13) produced perfect golf to match the perfect weather on Sunday when he shot a seven-under par 65 to take the Cochrane Cup by three shots from Donal Sheridan (9).

Three birdies on the back nine proved to be the difference as Eddie birdied 10, 12 and 18 to come home in 32 nett despite dropping shots at the 15th and 17th. His round also included seven pars give five of them coming on an error free front nine which he went round in 33 nett.

Donal Sheridan managed two back to back birdies in his round at the 13th and 14th and he also rolled in ten pars on his way to a nett 68 but his hopes of victory were thwarted by dropped shots at the third, 10th and 18th. Those birdies proved crucial when the countback went to the final six holes as he pipped Ciaran Sheridan (5) for second overall.

Ciaran Sheridan had the consolation of taking the Category 1 prize with Noel Reidy (12) and Peter McCaughey (18) the other category winners.
