Impressive win for Hession

Seven handicapper Sean Hession was an impressive winner of Sunday’s Singles Stableford competition when he shot 42pts to win by two points from teenager Cian Lynch McCrave and Darren O’Brien.

Hession, who is the latest member of the Tournament Committee, to win a Sunday competition, got off to a flying start as birdies at the first and third gave him ten points for the first three holes and although he dropped shots at the eight and ninth he still managed to turn with 20pts.

He took eight points from the first three holes on the back nine thanks to a pars at the 10th and 11th and a birdie at the par five 12th. He dropped a shot at the 13th but made amends with another explosive three hole burst from the 15th which yielded another 10pts thanks to birdies at 15 and 17 and a par at 16.

He covered the back nine in 22pts for an overall total of 42pts and that was enough to take the overall prize from Juvenile Captain Lynch McCrave and O’Brien. Lynch McCrave had the consolation of taking the Category One prize while O’Brien captured Category Three with Aidan Gaughran (13) winning Category Two. .
