Tight finish to final event of 2018

THE last competition of 2018 was a Champagne Team of Four event played over 14 holes on Sunday and it produced a tight finish.

The team of Martin Cairns (17), Mark Cairns(15), Adrian Kenny (19) and Gerry Murray (10) shot 70pts to win the event by one point from Ray Pepper (19), Andrew MacKell (28), Stephen Haughey (13) and Ciaran McAteer (20). The second place team also recorded a score of 70pts but under Turkey competition rules had a point deducted because Ray Pepper had been among the prizes in a similar competition on December 9.

The first winner of the Nine Hole Repeater Competition is Michael Noone (16). He edged out Cathal Grennan on countback after both returned scores of 17pts.

The competition continues until January 5 and the €3 entry fee must be paid prior to the round in the Pro Shop with members able to enter as often as they like. Three prizes will be awarded will be awarded after every 25 entries anmd there are separate competitions for Men, Ladies and Juveniles
