Rogers wins Sunday shoot-out after super round

 There was a shoot-out of a different sort to the Aviva Stadium in Dundalk Golf Club on Sunday as Eddie Rogers came out on top in the 14 Hole Singles Stableford competition.

The four handicapper was one of three players to reach 31pts and it was his 20pts over the final nine holes which delivered him the overall victory on countback from Billy Cairns (5). Carins’ two point par on the final hole, the 18th, edged him into second place ahead of Conor Byrne (21) after the pair were tied on countback after nine, six and three holes.

Mickey Coburn (10) took the Caregory 1 Prize, with Paddy Duffy (14) winning Category 2 and Tom Clarke (18) claiming Category Three.

Rogers, with 28pts, also had the day’s best gross score, as he shot a round that two birdies, 10 pars and two bogeys. The birdies came at the second and 12th while the bogies were at the third and 11th as Rogers went around 57 strokes which was level par for the 14 holes played.
