The Lady Captain’s Prize took place over two days on Tuesday June 28 and Saturday July 3. On day one 160 ladies played and on day two 144 ladies played.
There was great excitement as Lady Captain Jean Connolly greeted all the ladies going out to play. They were all full of anticipation. On the first day some fantastic scores were returned. Marie McKell, Joan Corrigan, Maura Hackett and Mary Carthy all came in with 70 nett. There was great excitement on day two and some nerves. Marie McKell and Joan Corrigan yet again played brilliant golf coming in with 75 nett. Marie was the overall winner with 145 nett on a count back.
On the presentation evening Marie received a beautiful prize and spoke of her shock and excitement at winning. This is Marie’s first time to win the Lady Captain’s prize. We are all delighted for Marie.
Joan Corrigan also received a beautiful prize and was absolutely thrilled to be runner up. This was a closely fought contest and well done to both ladies.
Congratulations to Deirdre Smith who won the overall gross. Deirdre is a skilful and talented golfer and had a fantastic gross of 155 for the two days.
Well done to Mary Dooley who was third and Maura Hackett who was fourth. These ladies are playing some great golf and no doubt we will be seeing their names in the winning enclosure again. Congratulations to all the winners on Day One and Day Two.
The Lady Captain’s competition was a huge success. On the presentation evening the winners commented on how Lady Captain Jean Connolly is a great ambassador for Dundalk Golf club.
