Captain’s Charity Day Thanks

  • Haggardstown native Ciarán McGuinness has expressed his thanks to all those who took part in his father Noel’s Captain’s Charity Day in the club last September.
  • Ciaran recently completed the Great Ethiopian Run, Africa’s largest road way in the capital city of Addis Ababa on behalf of the Irish NGO VITA.
Ciaran, who is married with three children, now lives in Ballyfad, Gorey, Co Wexford, and works as ruminant nutritionist with Bolgers 5* Feeds, Ferns, Co Wexford.
He was one of 19 Irish volunteers to take part in the 10km high altitude run which attracted over 40,000 participants from around the world.
Ciaran ran with the VITA team which raised over €50,000 which will go towards VITA’s agricultural and development projects.
The organisation’s main success is the improved production of potatoes through better seed, technology, education, technical and marketing support.
The Irish runners visited many of VITA’s projects in the south of the country to see first hand the work being done.
Ciaran said all those who supported the charity day held by Dundalk Golf Club Captain (2013) Noel McGuinness last September greatly helped him reach his fund raising target.
