Traynor takes top Turkey prize

A blistering back nine was good enough for Ciaran Traynor to land top prize in Sunday’s Turkey competition

After going out in level-par with 18 points the five-handicapper shot 23 points heading for home to finish on 41 points and just pip teenager Padraig Fallon on countback.

The experienced Michael Coburn was a shot further behind on 40pts while Martin Byrne finished fourth on 39pts, one point ahead of Billy Cairns.

A quartet of players who finished on 37pts also made the prize list making it a profitable day for Cathal Muckian, Brian Mernagh, Ciaran Dunne and Liam Mernagh.
