Hospice Homecare Team Event a huge success

The Hospice & Homecare Open 4 Lady Team Event was played on Saturday 8th & Tuesday 11th June. This prestigious competition is sponsored by The Hair Shop. This Team Event is one of the most popular competitions of the golfing season. It attracts visitors from all over the region. This year did not disappoint with 17 visiting clubs participating in the competition. All the ladies arrived and were treated to some lovely clothing from Horseware in Dundalk. Thank you to Horseware for their very generous gifts to all the ladies and gentlemen. Sixty teams played and the scoring was good. The playing conditions were slightly more difficult after all the rain in the previous few days. The winning ladies came from Warrenpoint Golf Club and had 87pts. Well done to all the winners.

This competition was kindly sponsored by The Hair Shop and Paula Bishoff spoke about their delight at supporting this team event. It is 25 years since The Hair Shop began their very generous sponsorship of this competition. Lady Captain Criona O’Reilly explained how important this team event is in the golfing calendar. All proceeds of this competition go towards Hospice Homecare. Maura O’Callaghan representing Hospice Homecare was welcomed by Lady Captain Criona. Lady Captain Criona spoke of the work the organisation do to help support people who have cancer. She spoke of the volunteers who give of their time to drive people to hospital for appointments, one of the many services of Hospice Homecare. Lady Captain Criona thanked the ladies and gentlemen of Dundalk Golf Club for their generous contributions and she announced that 8,500 euros had been raised for Hospice Homecare. Lady Captain Criona invited Tom McGuinness from Horseware to speak and he explained how delighted they were to be involved with this competition. He generously matched the amount Dundalk Golf Club had raised. This was met with delight and Maura O’Callaghan was  in awe with the hard work that went into organising this event and spoke of what this means to Hospice Homecare.

A huge thank you to all who helped with the organisation of this team event and all who played and contributed to this very worthy cause.
