Good week on inter-club scene as three more teams advance

IT was another good week for the inter-club teams as Dundalk recorded wins in the Provincial Towns Cup, Pierce Purcell Shield and Fred Daly Trophy. 

Club Captain Trevor Giff led from the front as the Provincial Towns Cup beat Greenore 5.5 to 1.5 on Saturday. The Captain won his match 4&3 with Denis Cunningham winning 3&1while Eoin Purton and Kevin Redmond won their matches in Greenore. Paul O’Callaghan was 1up playing 18 when he was called in while Darren Murphy was all square on 16 and Derek Murdock was on the 19th when Dundalk secured the winning point.

The Fred Daly team beat Donabate 4-1 on Sunday with Zak Alderdice winning 2&1, Conor Murphy winning 2&1 and Eoin Purton winning 5&4 to secure victory for Dundalk while Chris Clarke was 2up after 16 and Conall Murdock was 1up on 17 when they were called in.

The Pierce Purcell team notched up the third win of the week when they beat Greenore on Sunday evening.   

However, the Fred Perry team saw their campaign come to an end on Friday night when they were beaten 3-2 by Westmanstown with the overall match being decided when Mickey Coburn and Eamon McEneaney were beaten on the 25th hole in Westmanstown.
