Patsy Cole’s Team Ash remain out in front after the fourth round of the Precision Cables Winter League.

On a weekend where a large turnout saw some excellent scoring by most teams, Team Ash managed to stretch their lead at the top of the table by three points and now lead by 21pts from Sean Ward’s Team Hazel.

Team Ash picked up 131pts to move their overall total to 521pts with Conor Byrne matching his week three score with an excellent 34pts. He was followed in by Jim Dwyer on 33pts with Billy Cairns and David Kelly contributing 32pts each.

Sean Ward’s Team Hazel were joint best team scorers over the weekend with 132pts and were inspired by the in-form John McKeever with an amazing 39pts and John Paul Casey who added another 37pts to the team’s cause. Damian Garland with 29pts and Michael Browne with 27pts completed their scoring.

That score allowed Team Hazel to move from third to second as they made up a four point deficit on Team Alder and now lead Alan Uzell’s team by four points as they could only manage 124pts from the weekend with Uzell’s their top scorer on 32pts.

With two more rounds to go it’s still all to play for at the top of the table.

Patsy Cole’s Team Ash have jumped into the lead in the Precision Cables Winter League after an impressive performance in Week 3.
They had their best return of competition scoring 134pts with Eamonn McEneaney leading the way with 35pts closely followed by Conor Byrne and Dennis Cunningham on 34pts and David Kelly with 31pts.
That allowed them to jump one place and replace Team Hazel at the top as Sean Ward’s charges could only manage 109pts with David Cairns their best scorer with 34pts.  They’ve now dropped to third place and are 22pts off the new leaders.
Team Alder move from third to second place thanks to their return of 120pts with David Corrigan (33pts) and Ultan Gaughran (31pts) the leading contributors but the gap between them and Team Ash has been extended from four points after week two to 18pts.
The inclement weather resulted in low turnout over the weekend and saw the individual competition split into two with McEneaney’s 35pts winning the Saturday competition. His card included nine pars and a birdie at the par five 12th which yielded four points while seven of his pars were three pointers.
The Sunday competition saw Ciaran Traynor (5) win Division 1 with 34pts and Cathal Connolly (10) take Division 2 with 35pts. Gavin Tinnelly (26) had the best score of the day on his way to winning Division 3 with an impressive 37pts.
