Cairns shoots best score of weekend

​Kenneth Cairns (11) shot the best of the round of the Singles Stableford competition which was played over the weekend of November 22 and 23.
His score of 35pts was enough to win Division 2 by one point from Gerry O’Keeffe (11).
Connor McCaughey (4) shot 33pts to win Division 1 by a shot from Austin Shaw (7) while Gordon Corry (13) won Division 3 with a score of 34pts from Graham Purcell (14) who had 33pts.
Sean Hoey (29) took Division 4 after shooting 34pts to win by one from Kieran Lally (22).
The Gents AGM takes place next Monday, December 8 in the Clubhouse at 7pm.
Saturday 22 November and Sunday 23 November 2025 – 14 Hole Singles Stableford – Overall: Division 1: Connor McCaughey (4) 33pts, Austin Shaw (7) 32pts. Division 2: Kenneth Cairns (11) 35pts, Gerard O'Keeffe (11) 34pts. Division 3: Gordon Corry (13) 34pts, Graham Purcell (14) 33pts. Division 4: Sean Hoey (29) 34pts, Kieran Lally (22) 33pts.

McEneaney edges out mccaughey

​John McEneaney (20) and Peter McCaughey (17) shot the best scores in the 14 Hole Singles Stableford competition which was played over the weekend of November 15 and 16.
Both were playing in Division 4 with McEneaney taking the divisional honours on the final round countback, the last hole, after the pair had matched each other on the last nine, last six and last three holes.
They shot 35pts with McEneaney’s score on the 18th one shot better than McCaughey’s and enough to give him the bragging rights.
 The competition was played over the 14 hole B course which meant that the third, fourth, 15th and 16th holes were not used.
Dennis Cunningham won Division 1 with 34pts which was one better than Barry Grennan (8) while Peter Cunningham (12) also had a one point winning margin in Division 2 as he edged out Gerry O’Keeffe (11). Alan Joynt (13) shot 33pts to win Division 3 and had one shot to spare over Eamon Kelly (15).
The Winter League sponsored by Precision Cables starts this weekend with entries being accepted up until this Friday, November 28. There is a €5 entry fee and envelopes and box are located on the bar in the clubhouse. The League will take place over six weekends and run into early February with breaks for team events over this period. Teams will be picked based on an even spread of handicaps.
Due to heavy demand on the timesheet it has been agreed that player can play and enter in the weekend competition and the Winter League on a Friday for a trial period over the winter 14 hole season. Players must enter in the Pro Shop prior to commencing their round and need a Golf Ireland member to sign their card.

Cup and Medal Presentations

The 2025 presentation ceremony took place on Sunday, November 9 and saw the winners in many of our internal matchplay competitions receive their prizes.
Adrian Kenny won both the Gold Medal and the IJM Minor Scratch Matchplay trophy to complete a unique double while Fergal Harte (Senior), Shaun Ward (Junior) and John Paul Casey (Intermediate) were the other winners.
Kenny defeated Neal McKell in the 36 hole final of the Gold Medal and then beat Sean Ward in the final.
Conor Curran received the Carolan Cup after beating Niall Rafferty in the final while Conor McDonnell was the winner of the Harry Walsh Cup after defeating John Oakes.
The Club Foursomes were won by Carl Stewart and Martin McEnteggart. They beat Robert Willaims and Andrew McCaughey in the final while Padraig Hassett and Amanda Rennan defeated Larry and Mary Steen to take the Mixed Foursomes.   
Paul Murphy won the Autumn Series sponsored by National Tile and Flooring.
 Prior to the presentations taking place there was a team competition over 14 holes which was won by the team of Paolo Cordiano (10.8), Bill McCarthy (30.0), Bobby McCarthy (8.3) and Dara Herr (15.9). They shot 75 points to win by three points from the quartet of Eamon McEneaney (11.5), John Morrison (14.9), Fergus O'Callaghan (10.7) and Tony Ryan (16.7) who needed countback to secure their runners-up spot.

Lawrence has best score in final leg of Autumn Series

​DUNDALK
Edward Lawrence (14) with a super score of 35pts over 14h holes recorded the best score on the final weekend of the National Tile and Flooring Autumn Series.
That was more than enough to place him first in Division 3, four points ahead of second place David Lawrence who shot 31pts.
In Division 1, Alan McCabe (8) continued his good form with a score of 31pts to pip Gerry Mulligan (8) while in Division 2 Eamon McEneaney (10) shot 31pts to edge out Peter Moran (11).
Brendan O’Shaughnessy (20) shot 28pts to take Division 4, winning by one point from Dylan Reilly (17).
