Tony Ryan produced the top score of the weekend as the Precision Cables WInter League resumed on January 7 and 8 after the Christmas break.
Playing off 13, Ryan covered the 14 holes in 36pts with a round that included nine three points pars. He parred the first and second, fourth, fifth and sixth, eighth and ninth as well as the 12th and 13th. There were also four two point bogey as well as a one-point double bogey at the par five 10th.
Ryan comfortably won Division 3 by four points but it was great to see the ageless Michael Stewart shoot 32pts off 15 to take second spot in this category.
Desmond Keown (8) was the Division 1 winner with 34pts, four better than Ciaran Traynor (4) while Gerry McDermott (12) took Division 2 with 33pts, which was one better than Dermot McKenna (12)
Stephen Fitzpatrick (19) was the Division 4 winner with a score of 34 pts with Edward Lawrence (16) in second place on 33pts.
The competition saw the resumption of the Precision Cables Winter League and Team Eagle were the biggest movers in Week 3 with an impressive 117pts as captain John Mc Keever chipped in with 31 pts for his team.
However, Team Raven continue to set the pace having led from the start with Gerry Mc Dermott their leading scorer as he accounted for 33 of their 112pts haul.
Teams Kestrel and Osprey are hot on their heels trailing by a mere nine points with Maurice Soraghan (29pts) and Eamon Mc Eneaney (31pts) their respective top performers.
There was a change at the bottom of the table as Mickey Coburn’s Team Robin were replaced by Colm Coburn’s Team Owl.
Only 21 pts separate first from fifth after week 3 so there is still a lot to play for with three rounds to go.
