Stephen Lynch (10) won the first round of the Cathedral Financial Autumn Series when he shot 43pts to edge out Gary O’Brien (26) by a single point.
Lynch had a birdie at the sixth and 13 pars, nine of which were for three points, as he went out in 21pts and came home in 22pts.
O’Brien also went out in 21pts, helped by three point returns from four holes, and came home in 21pts with a four point birdie at the 13th and three point returns at five other holes.
Brendan Keane (11), Anthony O’Donoghue and Len Mullins (19) were the divisional winners with Garrett Duffy recording the best gross score of the day after shooting 34pts.
Daniel Keane (23) shot 44pts to win the Wednesday Open Singles Stableford sponsored by McKenna Man and had a winning margin of six points. Tony Macguinness (9), Ciaran Murray (16) and Michael Keating (22) were the divisional winners. Chris Clarke with 36pts had the best gross score.

The annual ‘Play in Pink’ competition, in aid of Breast Cancer Research was played on Sunday, September 10 and Tuesday, September 13 when 42 teams competed, with a great array of glamorous pink costumes on show both on and off the course. The competition was very kindly sponsored by Tony Kieran Butchers.
The winning team of Mary Laverty, Nicola Fee and Elaine Ward returned a fabulous score of 60.9 nett. They narrowly pipped Pauline Campbell, Mags Coburn and Teresa O’Mahony into the runner up spot with 61.2 nett. In third place were Kate Rowland, Anna Rowland and Ciara McGinnity.
There was a great turnout in the club on Tuesday evening for the presentation of the fabulous prizes. Many thanks to Tony Kieran Butchers for their continued support and sponsorship.
