Noel Reid (23) won the Singles Stableford competition which was played over the last weekend of May with a super score of 42pts.
He won by one point from Paul Morgan (20) who was left to rue a double bogey six on the last as he came up agonisingly short of the overall victory. The foundation for Reid’s victory was built on the front nine which he covered in an impressive 24pts helped greatly by a four point par at the seventh and three point pars at the fifth, sixth and ninth. He failed to par any of the holes down the back nine but he did take full advantage of having extra shots at the 11th and 16th where his bogeys earned three points at both holes. Reid came home in 18pts and that was enough to edge out Morgan who had gone out in 20pts before shooting 21pts down the back nine. He had a four point birdie at the 12th, where he was inches away from an eagle with his approach, and a four point par at the fourth. Pars at the first, 14th and 17th all yielded three-points. Conall Murdock (3) won Division 1 with 40pts and also had the competition’s best gross score of 37pts while Paschal Keenan (17) shot 41pts to win Division 2, Noel McGuinness (22) with 40pts was the Division 3 winner. The weekly Wednesday Open sponsored by McKenna Man was won by Kieran Arthurs (16) who shot 44pts to win by three from Kieran Dunne (21). His round included a hole in one at the par three ninth which earned him five points as he went out in 24 and came home in 20. His round also included three-point pars at the fifth, sevenths, eighth, 10th, 12th and 18th. Tim Jewell also had a hole in one when he aced the fifth.
