Hession bounces back to take wednesnday open

Shane Hession (3) won the McKenna Man Open Singles Stableford on Wednesday with an excellent score of 40pts which was two points clear of the field. He also had the day’s best gross score of 37pts.
He had a ropey start with back to back bogeys on the second and third which left him with four points after three holes. But he covered the remaining 15 holes in 36pts thanks to a four point biride at the seventh and three point birdies at the 12th and 14th and a mixture of two and three point pars at the other 12 holes. He went out in 19pts and came home in 21pts.
Niall Martin (10) shot 38pts to take second place overall, edging out Fergal Sexton (13) on countback. Sexton took Division 1 while Bernard Crombie (17) , now playing out of Skerries, won Division 2 and Paul Heaney (23) won Division 3.
