A storming outward nine of solid scoring for 24 points set Paul O’Hare (36) well on his way towards taking the top prize in the weekend Singles Stableford Competition with a final tally of 41 points.
He started his scoring run early with a par four on the first hole for four points and followed on with a run of three pointers from the third to the sixth holes before adding another three points at the par three ninth to reach the turn on 24 points. O’Hare had an up and down back nine but pars at the par three 13th and par four 14th holes for four pointers and a three pointer at the par four 14th hole helped him garner 17 points which was enough to get him over the finishing line. Low handicapper Christopher Clarke (3) came closest to the winner with 40 points but had to settle for winning the Division 1 category. He had an evenly balanced round of 20 points on both nines, highlighted on the front nine by birdies at the par five sixth and seventh holes and par three ninth . He went on to birdie the par five 12th and par four 14th and 16th holes. The other divisional winners were Vincent Jackson (13) with 39 points and Alan Uzell (22) also on 39 points.
