Stephen Fitzpatrick won the Singles Stableford competition held over the weekend of June 14 and 15 by one point.
Playing off 18, Fitzpatrick shot 42pts and that was enough to separate him from a group of four players on 41pts.
The foundations for his winning round were laid on the front nine which he covered in 23 points thanks to six three-point pars at the second, third, fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth holes.
He could only manage two further three-point pars on the 14th and 18th but it was those three points on the final hole that got him to 42pts and gave him the overall victory.
Jospeh Laverty (1), Desmond McKeown (9), Brendan Keane (12) and Cathal Purcell (13) all shot 41pts and it was Laverty who took the runners-up spot on countback after posting a back nine of 21pts.
Laverty also carded the best gross score of the competition with 40pts which equated to a bogey-free four under par 68  with the birdies coming on the sixth, tenth, 12th and 15th holes.
McKeown and Keane were both level on the back nine countback, but McKeown edged the back six to take first place in Division 1 with Keane second while Purcell’s 41pts was enough to win Division 2 from Peter Cunningham (18).  The  Division 3 winner was Paul Lynch (21) who edged out Paul Heaney (22) on countback after both had shot 40pts.
