The Revive Active Fourball team’s brilliant run came to an end last Saturday when they lost 4-1 in their All-Ireland semi-final against Gowran Park in Knightsbrook. The Kilkenny side eventually took the national title with a 3-2 win over Gort in Sunday’s final.
The match was a lot closer than the scoreline might suggest with the three top matches always finely balanced. However, Gowran Park picked up early wins in the bottom two matches and that left them in a strong position entering the final few holes. They eventually got the point they needed to book their place with the final with the other two matches, where Dundalk were one up in one and all square in the other, called in. Great credit must go to Siobhan Rogers and Pat Cleary, who managed the team to a Leinster North title, and their squad of Mary Carthy, Jactina Foran, Mary Lou Grennan, Ann Hopper, Mary Laverty, Ide McDermott. Judy McDonagh, Anne McDonnell, Gillian McDonnell, Sally McDonnell, Grainne Mullins, Anna Rowland, Katie Rowland and Elaine Ward who provided us with some great memories over the past few months.
