UZell wins Oriel Cup

In the Oriel Cup, an Open Week stroke play competition sponsored by Moran CCTV, Alan Uzell (24) took first prize after carding a memorable back nine.

On the outward nine he carded a nett 36 before his par five on the 10th hole for a nett four sparked off a string of good scoring, highlighted by a nett five at the par five 12th, a nett four at the par five 14th and five nett threes to come home in nett 30.

Runner up Anthony McCrave (21), also on 66, set off at a blistering pace with a nett 29 on the outward nine but was unable to maintain the scoring momentum on the back nine, finishing on nett 37.
