Membership Categories and guidelines
The following is a list of Membership Categories, requirements for each category and other guidelines.

1. New Members
1.1 Persons wishing to join DGC must apply in writing, and be proposed and seconded by a Full/Associate member of at least 5 years standing. The Proposer and Seconder must be personally acquainted with the applicant and their signature will be taken as an affirmation of the applicant's suitability. The Office will assess the application in conjunction with the Membership Committee and then make its recommendation to the Executive Committee for ratification.
1.2 The Development Levy must be paid in advance of Annual Subscription.
1.3 Membership Tags should be displayed by members.
1.4 The Annual Subscription must be paid in full by January 31st.
1.5 If a new member wishes to join after July 1st, of the year in question, the annual subscription will be reduced by 25% and, if after September 1st, will be reduced by 50%.
2. Reduced Membership
2.1 Members aged 65 or over on January 1st, of the year in question, and who have 20 years continuous membership are entitled to apply for a reduced annual subscription. This does not apply to 5-day membership.
3. Honorary Membership
3.1 Persons aged 80 (or over) on January 1st, of the year in question, and with 30 years continuous full/associate membership, are entitled to apply for Honorary membership. This does not apply to 5-day membership.
4. Junior Membership (8-18 years)
4.1 Junior membership starts at age 8 on January 1st (of year in question) to 18.
4.2 Accompanied junior members must be accompanied by an adult member at all times.
4.3 The Ladies and Gents Committees can give consideration to high achieving junior golfers to allow them to play in the Adult Competitions, based on handicap. Rules to be set up and access to BRS for these juniors is managed by the gents and ladies committee.
4.4 Juniors, regardless of handicap, retain junior status until they reach 18 years of age.
4.5 Junior members who allow their membership to lapse and wish to rejoin, later time, must reapply through the same process.
5. Intermediate Membership (18 – 25 years)
5.1 A junior member may apply for intermediate membership. They must be proposed and seconded by a full or associate member of at least 5 years standing when they are 18 years old on January 1st of the year in question
6. Intermediate Membership going to Full Membership (25 years +)
6.1 An intermediate member may apply in writing for Full Membership if they are 25 years of age on January 1st of the year in question. They must be proposed and seconded by a Full or Associate Member of at least 5 years standing. As part of Dundalk’s Golf Clubs Youth friendly policy, members in this category will be allowed a credit towards the Development Levy for each year of Intermediate Membership. In addition to the Annual Subscription, they must also pay the Golf Ireland affiliation fee, the Clubhouse Spend and Golfer's Insurance.
6.2 Former intermediate Members, who did not take up Full Membership at age 25 and are under the age of 30 years, can apply to join as a Full Member with a reduced Development Levy. In addition to the Annual Subscription, they must also pay the Golf Ireland affiliation fee, the Clubhouse Spend and Golfer's Insurance.
6.3 If an Intermediate Member is in full-time education at the age of 25, they are allowed one further year as an Intermediate Member. This is subject to a letter from their college. This year will not contribute to their reduced Development Levy.
7. Outside of Ireland Membership (32 Counties)
7.1 Full Members who work abroad, and as a result live abroad, can apply for a reduced subscription. This entitles them to six weeks playing rights.
7.2 A further reduction will be allowed in the second and subsequent years.
7.3 If a person plays only one day in a week, that is one week used up.
7.4 Members in this category are not eligible to win a major competition.
8. Overseas Membership
8.1 This is a category for members whose permanent address is outside of Ireland. They pay a once-off payment and this entitles them to playing rights for three calendar months. For example, if they only play for one day in June, then this is one of their calendar months used up.
8.2 They must pay Golf Ireland Levy and Insurance each year.
8.3 They are not eligible to win a major competition.
8.4 They must notify the club of any change in permanent address.
8.5 This category of membership will cease should they take up permanent residency in Ireland.
9. Staff Membership
The following terms apply to the Staff Membership Category:
9.1 The applicant must be proposed and seconded by a Full or Associate Member of Dundalk Golf Club of at least five years standing.
9.2 The applicant must be a permanent member of staff, employed by Dundalk Golf Club for a minimum of two years.
9.3 The successful applicant will be a non-voting member of Dundalk Golf Club.
9.4 The applicant will cease to be a member in this category at the end of the calendar year following termination of employment in Dundalk Golf Club.
9.5 The applicant's duties and responsibilities as a staff member, as specified in the terms and conditions of his/her contract, must always take precedence and nothing in the award of this membership facility shall change such terms and conditions.
9.6 The terms of this category are compliant with current taxation law. Dundalk Golf Club will not accept liability for charges as a result of any change in the future.
10. Deferrals on Health Grounds
Note: Illness / Injury must be medically certified in all cases for a deferral.
10.1 A fully paid-up member who becomes ill / injured and is certified unable to play for the duration of the year, or part thereof, may apply in writing for a deferral of his/her membership and have his/her annual subscription adjusted accordingly (See scale below). This matter will be dealt with by the Office, in conjunction with the Membership Committee, on a case-by-case basis. In extenuating circumstances, a deferral period may be extended. Such deferrals will not incur a rejoining fee or a break in continuous membership service.
11. Resignation
In the event that a full member resigns and, in time, wishes to re-join Dundalk Golf Club, the following terms will apply:
11.1 They must reapply and be proposed and seconded by a full member of at least 5 years standing.
11.2 Members who initially paid a minimum of €5,000 Development Levy will not incur a re-joining fee on the first occasion.
11.3 A person who re-joins may incur a fee based on the scale below:
In the event that a full member resigns and, in time, wishes to re-join Dundalk Golf Club, the following terms will apply:
11.1 They must reapply and be proposed and seconded by a full member of at least 5 years standing.
11.2 Members who initially paid a minimum of €5,000 Development Levy will not incur a re-joining fee on the first occasion.
11.3 A person who re-joins may incur a fee based on the scale below:
11.4 A member takes leave of absence or resigns for 10 years or more the full Development Levy will be payable except for exception 11.2.
11.5 A former member who wishes to rejoin Dundalk Golf Club will be placed on a Waiting List in the event of Membership at that time being closed.
11.6 A period of resignation may affect a member's eligibility for Reduced or Honorary membership.
11.7 Notices of resignations should be tendered in writing to the Club.
11.8 A member who does not pay their Annual Subscription, and doesn’t make representation to the Club Management regarding same, by February 28 of the year in question will be deemed to have resigned their membership.
12. Pavilion Members
12.1 Pavilion Membership includes the use of the Clubhouse Facilities, the use of the Practice Facilities and one complimentary Green Fee.
12.2 New members must fill out an application form and have a proposer and seconder of at least 5 years standing.
12.3 Pavilion Members are allowed to pay a maximum of 8 green fees at the reduced rate per year.
12.4 A Full or Associate member may go to Pavilion Membership for one year and will not incur a re-joining fee or a break in continuous membership service.
13. Deceased Members
The family of a member who passes away will be refunded the unused part of the deceased's membership subscription.
14. Complementary Use of Club Facilities
The Executive Committee has the discretion to offer complementary use of the club facilities to certain retired or resigned former members who have had a lengthy association with the club or have served the Club with distinction over many years.
11.5 A former member who wishes to rejoin Dundalk Golf Club will be placed on a Waiting List in the event of Membership at that time being closed.
