OPEN COMPETITIONS
Because of its large membership of active golfers, opportunities to play Dundalk Golf Club can be limited but one way to experience the challenge of this impressive championship course is to play in an Open Competition,
During the 2023 season, from March 22 to October 4, there is an Open Competition every Wednesday and visitors can enter through the BRS system.
This year there was also an Open Week from June 25 to July 2 which offered a variety of competition formats including team, fourball. foursomes and singles competitions which featured the Oriel Cup which has been running since 1950 as well as the Minor and Intermediate Scratch Cups. The results of the 2023 Open Week competitions are at the bottom of this page.
Dundalk also stages four of the most prestigious scratch cups in Ireland. The Intermediate and Minor Scratch Cups are now played on the same day which is known as Scratch Saturday while the Junior Scratch Cup is played over 36 holes on its own date. The Senior Scratch Cup, which has been running annually since 1963, attracts some of the top amateur players in Ireland participating as they bid to follow in the footsteps of players like JB Carr, Padraig Harrington and Caolan Rafferty and lift the famous Carroll trophy.
