MEN'S SECTION In-form Padraig Fallon notched up another overall win when he won the singles stableford competition played on Sunday, April 23. Playing off 17 he shot an impressive 42pts to pip Rory Henry (12) by one point. Fallon got off to a flying start with three three-point pars on the opening three holes and then added another at the sixth. His only blank of the day came at the par five seventh where he had a triple bogey but he bounced back from that setback with three successive three point pars around the turn. Another followed at the par-five 12th and after a double bogey five on the short 17th he again showed his ability to bounce back as he finished with his ninth par of the day on the last to come home in 20pts having gone out in 22pts. A three-point par at the last allowed Henry to beat teenager Odhran MacShane (11) on countback for the runner-up spot but MacShane had the consolation of winning Division 1 with Matthew McCaughey (15) taking Division 2 and Andrew Shekleton (22) claiming Division 3. Ciaran Johnston recorded the day’s best gross score with 38pts. The Wednesday Open, sponsored by Deluxe Bathrooms, was won by Sean Og Cairns (19) who shot 38pts. Visitors from Cloverhill and Mannan Castle won Division 1 and 2 respectively while John Englishby (23) was the Division 3 winner. Caolan Rafferty shot 37pts to record the best gross score.
