Back nine seals the deal for kelly

David Kelly (21) produced a particularly impressive back nine to win the Arkew Cup stroke competition with a score of 63 nett, edging out Michael McKevitt (22) who also finished on a nett 63.
David’s outgoing nine holes included pars at the par four first and eighth holes, the par three fifth and par five sixth to turn on nett 32. His back nine was especially strong, with three successive pars at the par five 10th and 12th holes and par four 11th followed by a par four at the 16th hole to come home in nett 31.
McKevitt just missed out despite a storming round that included a birdie three on the third hole and back to back par fives at the sixth and seventh holes. He turned on 31 nett and on the back nine he parred the par five 10th and 12th holes, par three 13th and par four 16th to finish the nine on 32 nett..
The divisional winners were Conor Murray, Peter McGinnity and Michael McKevitt with the overall gross going to Connor McCaughey.
Teenager Roan Norton Quigley (19) set a blistering pace on his front nine to set up a comfortable win with 45 points, six ahead of the nearest contender, in the Wednesday McKenna Man Open Singles Stableford Competition.
His outgoing nine included four pointers with a par at the index one fourth hole and a birdie three at the eight. He backed this up with three pointers at three other holes to turn on 24 points. On the back nine he maintained his consistency with pars for three pointers at the 11th, 12th, and 13th holes and a birdie three for four points on the 14th hole before maintaining a finish to close off his back nine with 21 points.
Norton-Quigley has been in tremendous form since the start of the season and has already seen his WHS rating reduce by 7.5 from 21.6 to 14.1.
